CA Sales Tax Rate Increased on January 1, 2013. Is Your Business Up-to-Date?

As the California State Board of Equalization website states:

Due to voter approval of Proposition 30, the statewide base sales and use tax rate will increase one quarter of one percent (0.25%) on January 1, 2013.  The higher tax rate will apply for four years – January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2016.

That means, in Hesperia and surrounding communities the sales tax rate has increased from 7.75% to 8.00%. What does that mean to your small business?

The BOE has an informative web page dedicated to the 2013 increase that you can peruse to make sure you are prepared to comply with this new change. The website also includes helpful links to see which cities and counties have new taxes.
